Safeguarding
Last updated: 4 November 2026
Keeping children safe is our first priority. Every tutor is vetted before they teach, and our safeguarding arrangements are overseen by a trained Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Worried about a child?
If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
To raise a concern with us, contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead at info@joylearning.co.uk or on WhatsApp 07518 384585. We will respond the same day.
How we check tutors
- Photo ID and right to work in the UK
- Copies of relevant qualifications
- Two written references from people unrelated to the tutor
- An enhanced DBS check with the Children's Barred List, paid for by Joy Learning
Families can ask to see a tutor's checks before lessons start.
How lessons are kept safe
- All lessons are arranged and delivered through the Joy Learning platform only.
- Tutors never contact students by personal phone, social media or private messaging.
- Cameras stay on, and students join from a shared space with an adult in the home.
- Tutors never arrange to meet students in person.
- Lessons may be recorded through the lesson platform for safeguarding and quality.
What happens when a concern is raised
- We listen, take it seriously and record what was said.
- Where needed, we pause lessons straight away.
- We follow our safeguarding procedures, including referral to the local authority children's services or the police.
- We keep the family informed, as far as we safely can.
